A
woman is like a tea bag, SOLD Carl Sandburg This image is part of the 8x10 series on canvas board, mixed media collage. Poetry and sayings continue to inspire my work. I used a copy of an old postal catalog of letters and postage stamps and arranged it to fit my background. I cut her clothing from an old French magazine I had. The lace is handmade Belgian lace and quite old, it was given to me by a lovely woman in the Golden Gate Antique Club that I used to belong to when we lived in the SF Bay area. Her face was cut from a separate piece of water color paper, her nose is a snip of corrugated paper, and her hat is made from doubled Japanese paper. It is stitched with waxed linen to give the appearance of a bonnet. The tea bag is one I emptied of tea leaves. The papers are applied with Golden Gel and sealed.
