A woman is like a tea bag,
It's only when she is in hot water that you realize how strong she is.

This image is part of the 8x10 series on canvas board, mixed media collage. Poetry and sayings continue to inspire my work. I used a copy of an old postal catalog of letters and postage stamps and arranged it to fit my background. I cut her clothing from an old French magazine I had. The lace is handmade Belgian lace and quite old, it was given to me by a lovely woman in the Golden Gate Antique Club that I used to belong to when we lived in the SF Bay area. Her face was cut from a separate piece of water color paper, her nose is a snip of corrugated paper, and her hat is made from doubled Japanese paper. It is stitched with waxed linen to give the appearance of a bonnet. The tea bag is one I emptied of tea leaves. The papers are applied with Golden Gel and sealed.
